My contribution

Ever since I understood the connection between human activity and the health of our planet, I’ve been wondering how to best contribute to a more sustainable world. I’ve been trying many things and have changed opinions many times over the course of time. Probably, I will continue this “learning by doing” for as long as I’m here. This blog is another such trial. Let’s go.

Since autumn 2021, I’ve been pursuing a public sector PhD. I feel amazingly privileged. I am able to dig into the big and small questions that are swirling around my head, and I am doing this for a living. What is sustainability really about? Is it possible to reach global sustainability? If so, how do we do it? What will it demand of Norwegian municipalities? Of individuals?

I do not have the full answers to any of these questions. But I have many thoughts and “stuff” to express on these issues. My experience is that sharing these thoughts is an important part of learning and developing at both a personal and professional level. ritanerland.com will be my digital platform for sharing. If I am lucky, some might learn something new, find new perspectives, or take practical action by reading this blog.

At present, most of my research findings will be of particular interest to public decision-makers and politicians in local governments. However, ritanerland.com and the blog posts specifically, are for everyone who is interested in learning more about sustainability and how to contribute. I hope you will follow along on my journey of finding some answers.

Thanks for reading. See you soon.

And remember: The world needs you.
