I recently discovered The Jane Goodall Hopecast. In this podcast, scientist Jane Goodall interviews inspiring people about what gives them hope. At a time when we frequently read, listen to, and see media pieces about the rather dystopian futures that several degrees of global warming can entail, hope isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind. People are getting fatigued, anxious, and paralyzed. Jane Goodall’s hopecast is such an inspiring and important contribution to this discourse. Check it out. You might get hopeful.
As my second paper is under review, I’m transitioning towards new research questions. Currently, I’m reading and writing a lot on visioning of the future – and there is no doubt: Hope is for sure an important component in this. What future are you hoping for – and do you believe it is possible to get to this future? Believing that it is possible to reach a sustainable future is essential for actually getting there. I published a Norwegian piece on this a few weeks ago – check it out here.
Also! I’ve been in the U.S. for almost three weeks. For the next six months, I will be a visiting scholar at the Geography department at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I feel so fortunate. A big thanks to everyone I’ve encountered this far. It’s been a great welcome.
Ok, that’s all for today.
Hope you’re hopeful about the future. At least I am.
